Control Systems Engineer I, Process Automation & OT at DPRLP
Overview
The Control Systems Engineer I will support a Production Team at a large refinery to improve process automation and control performance at scale. You will work with field instrumentation, DCS hardware, SISs, and advanced control tools to maximize profitability while maintaining safety and reliability. Collaboration with maintenance, operations, and contract engineers is essential in a fast paced environment. This role offers growth through project work, risk based improvements, and hands on troubleshooting.
What You'll Do10
- 1Build and configure the Distributed Control System (DCS) to improve unit performance
- 2Lead proactive monitoring of base layer controls to ensure reliable operation
- 3Own the development of complex loop operations and documentation for control systems
- 4Design and participate in assurance activities for installed SISs
- 5Drive improvements in DCS alarming performance for the production team
- 6Support the Management of Change process and coordinate with stakeholders
- 7Contribute to Turnaround activities and RCm studies with Maintenance and Operations
- 8Provide input for capital projects and unit changes
- 9Maintain knowledge of Process Control Domain and OT/PSM concepts to reduce risk
- 10Collaborate across multiple teams to meet 24x7 operation goals
Requirements10
- 1Must have legal authorization to work in the US on a full-time basis
- 2B.S. or higher engineering degree in Chemical Electrical Control Mechanical or related field
- 3At least five (5) years of experience in Process control engineering or Instrumentation engineering
- 4Experience with DCS configuration and support (Emerson DeltaV and/or Honeywell)
- 5Knowledge of control theory and engineering documentation (P&IDs, loop wiring diagrams) and troubleshooting
- 6General instrumentation and/or process analyzer (QMI) experience
- 7Beneficial skills in Honeywell Experion DCS advanced control strategies PHA LOPA data analytics
- 8Strong communication planning and organizational skills with the ability to work in a team
- 9Demonstrated ability to learn new concepts quickly and troubleshoot complex problems
- 10Ability to work onsite in Houston, TX with a schedule supporting 24x7 refinery operations
