Construction Engineer at TMG Construction
Overview
The Construction Engineer I supports TMG’s Field Operations by providing technical expertise in managing building and commercial construction projects. This developmental role offers opportunities to deepen knowledge of the construction process and build management skills for advancement within TMG. Candidates will assist with project management, field operations, and technical documentation across diverse project types.
What You'll Do11
- 1Support project managers in estimating, contracting, and closing projects through detailed administrative tasks
- 2Process RFIs and manage document control while maintaining accurate shop drawings and submittals
- 3Utilize CADD and estimating software to conduct quantity surveys and generate project reports
- 4Coordinate with subcontractors and clients to resolve issues and ensure compliance with specifications
- 5Maintain project schedules using modern scheduling tools and oversee construction administration tasks
- 6Develop control line drawings and coordinate trade documentation to ensure proper spatial alignment
- 7Participate in weekly staff meetings and industry networking events to share best practices
- 8Identify potential risks and propose solutions to prevent delays or rework
- 9Assist with contract negotiations and prepare change orders according to established procedures
- 10Conduct constructability reviews and evaluate cost-saving opportunities during design phases
- 11Provide ongoing professional development through training programs and mentorship opportunities
Requirements11
- 1B.S. degree in Engineering or Construction Management with 0-1 year experience or 3 years of relevant experience
- 2Basic understanding of civil architectural mechanical electrical disciplines
- 3Ability to lift 50 pounds and physically navigate job sites
- 4Clean driving record for material transportation duties
- 5Proficiency with spreadsheets and industry-standard construction software
- 6Current safety certifications including OSHA 30 1st Aid and CPR
- 7Associate Constructor credential or Engineer in Training status
- 8Valid driver's license with clean record
- 9Strong communication skills for collaboration with cross-functional teams
- 10Experience with project management software such as TMG’s Project Center and USACE QCS/RMS
- 11Commitment to continuous learning and professional development
