Overview

You will manage computer labs in public housing sites, supporting residents and youth with digital access and learning. You own daily lab operations, from user sign-ins to safety enforcement, while tutoring and designing activities that build digital literacy. Collaborate with program leadership and supervisors to align activities with learning goals. This role combines tech support, education, and community engagement in an onsite, part-time schedule.

What You'll Do10

  • 1Greet adult and youth residents entering the lab and assist with sign-in, tracking usage on provided logs.
  • 2Monitor lab activities during open hours to ensure safe, respectful use of equipment and enforce posted rules.
  • 3Provide one-on-one technology assistance to residents, focusing on Google, MSWord, Excel, and Outlook.
  • 4Develop and deliver training sessions to boost digital literacy, with special focus on youth engagement.
  • 5Tutor youth in homework, educational software, and school projects, adapting to individual needs.
  • 6Design and implement enrichment activities that use technology to promote creativity and critical thinking.
  • 7Maintain user agreements, sign-in logs, and activity reports, ensuring accurate records for organizational requirements.
  • 8Report hardware or software malfunctions to the Supervisor within 24 hours to minimize downtime.
  • 9Operate standard office equipment including copiers and fax machines as needed.
  • 10Follow YCH safety guidelines, reporting all injuries and safety concerns to the appropriate team within 24 hours.

Requirements10

  • 16 months of general clerical experience with typing and computer software programs, or equivalent combination.
  • 2High school diploma or GED with training in typing and office practices.
  • 3Working knowledge of Google, MSWord, Excel, and Outlook.
  • 4Ability to operate standard office equipment and personal computers with various applications.
  • 5Skill in enforcing lab rules and maintaining respectful relationships with youth and adult users.
  • 6Strong communication skills for professional interaction with co-workers and business contacts.
  • 7Commitment to confidentiality and adherence to organizational policies and procedures.
  • 8Physical ability to sit or stand for prolonged periods, with hand strength for keyboard operation and ability to lift up to 10 pounds.
  • 9Valid California driver's license and auto insurance preferred, with acceptable driving record.
  • 10Legal right to work in the US; background check and post-offer physical/drug screen required.
