Community Connections Coordinator, Bilingual Spanish
Overview
You will own bilingual (English/Spanish) outreach and resource referral services for the City of Thornton, connecting economically disadvantaged community members to food, health, and housing resources. You will build partnerships with non-profits, faith communities, schools, and government agencies. Your work will directly address health equity and homelessness in Denver's north suburbs. This role includes developing bilingual resource displays, conducting surveys, and analyzing data to guide programming. You will specialize in one key area: health equity, education/employment, partner engagement, or homelessness.
What You'll Do10
- 1Connect community members to resources from partner organizations by phone, email, and in person, making referrals to city and external programs based on individual needs.
- 2Build relationships with partner organizations through regular outreach and by coordinating gatherings and resource fairs.
- 3Maintain current contact lists and inventories of partner programs, promoting them through bilingual literature, social media, and presentations.
- 4Develop bilingual traveling resource displays for conferences, community meetings, and resource fairs to promote Community Connections and partner programming.
- 5Deliver person-centered, trauma-informed service in Spanish and English, guiding individuals through resource navigation.
- 6Develop and distribute bilingual resource and promotional materials, including translation and interpretation services.
- 7Collect survey data on community needs, oversee data collection from external partners, analyze trends, and prepare monthly and annual reports.
- 8Present informational sessions to partners, community organizations, and city staff, including the City Council.
- 9Serve on boards and committees, attend community meetings to identify service gaps, and design new programming to fill them.
- 10Collaborate with community organizations to host educational programs, workshops, and special events, including evening and weekend commitments.
Requirements10
- 1Bachelor's degree in Human Services, Social Work, or related field from an accredited college or university.
- 22+ years experience in coordinating outreach or working with lower income or marginalized populations.
- 3Bilingual in Spanish (oral and written) required; interviews conducted in English and Spanish.
- 4Experience working collaboratively with non-profits, faith-based communities, and other partners preferred.
- 5Ability to travel to various locations in a timely manner.
- 6Knowledge of city of Thornton policies, procedures, and goals, and the Parks, Recreation, and Community Programs department.
- 7Broad understanding of issues facing low-income, unhoused, unemployed populations, seniors, and teens.
- 8Skill in planning, coordinating, monitoring, and evaluating community programs and events.
- 9Proficiency in Microsoft Office (word processing, spreadsheets, database management) and electronic mail.
- 10Ability to create bilingual forms, manuals, and brochures and use marketing tools for print, internet, and social media.
