Overview
You will own technical sales and applications support for CNC machining customers across the Columbus, OH area, driving adoption of Iscar cutting tools at 50+ active accounts. You will join a 12-person regional team of applications engineers and sales specialists, reporting to the Regional Sales Manager. This role pairs hands-on machine shop problem-solving with B2B sales strategy, giving you direct impact on customer productivity and revenue growth. Unlike typical sales roles, you will spend 40% of your time in customer facilities, programming and optimizing toolpaths with CAM software. You will be the technical bridge between Iscar's R&D and local manufacturers, shaping product feedback for aerospace, automotive, and energy clients.
What You'll Do8
- 1Build a 90-day territory plan prioritizing 20 key accounts by revenue potential and growth opportunity.
- 2Deliver on-site machining audits at customer facilities, capturing cycle time and tool life data to justify tooling upgrades.
- 3Program and test CNC toolpaths using Mastercam to demonstrate 5-10% cycle time reductions for target parts.
- 4Lead monthly technical presentations on Iscar grades and geometries to 15-20 shop floor personnel.
- 5Collaborate with Iscar engineering to adapt ISO standard toolholders for custom customer applications.
- 6Drive quarterly sales reviews with distributors, tracking KPI metrics like tool cost per part and scrap rate.
- 7Resolve customer complaints within 48 hours, documenting root cause and corrective action in CRM.
- 8Support new product launches by coordinating trial orders and capturing performance data for Iscar product management.
Requirements8
- 13-5 years of machining and industrial sales experience, with a track record of meeting sales targets.
- 2Hands-on CNC programming experience (G-code, CAM software) for milling and turning operations.
- 3Associate's or bachelor's degree in engineering, industrial technology, or related field preferred.
- 4Ability to read GD&T blueprints and specify cutting tool geometries for steel, stainless, aluminum, and superalloys.
- 5Valid driver's license and willingness to travel 50% within territory, with occasional overnight stays.
- 6Proficiency with Microsoft Office and CRM tools like Salesforce or Zoho.
- 7Strong verbal and written communication for technical and commercial presentations.
- 8ISO 9001 familiarity and experience with Lean manufacturing principles are a plus.
