CNC Programmer, Multi-Axis CAM & Aerospace Machining
Overview
You will own multi-axis CNC programming for a Houston manufacturing company, converting 3D models and GD&T drawings into production-ready tool paths. Your work drives cycle time reductions and first-pass yield on tight-tolerance aerospace components. You will collaborate daily with machinists, engineering, and quality to prove out programs and solve machining issues. This role offers direct impact on shop floor efficiency and process documentation in an AS9100 environment. If you thrive on optimizing Mastercam or Esprit programs for exotic materials, this is your platform.
What You'll Do8
- 1Develop, post-process, and optimize CNC programs and tool paths using Mastercam, Esprit, or NX CAM.
- 2Interpret 3D models, engineering drawings, and GD&T to plan machining strategies, fixturing, and tooling.
- 3Program multi-axis (3–5 axis) mills and lathes, then prove out programs at the machine with machinists.
- 4Create setup sheets, tool lists, and process documentation to standardize workflow.
- 5Reduce cycle times by 30% within the first six months through program and process optimization.
- 6Support first-article inspection and troubleshoot machining and quality issues in real time.
- 7Collaborate with engineering, quality, and shop floor teams to improve manufacturability of complex parts.
- 8Drive continuous improvement initiatives to lower scrap rates and boost machine utilization.
Requirements8
- 18+ years of CNC programming experience in a precision machining environment.
- 2Proficiency with CAM software such as Mastercam, Esprit, or NX for multi-axis programming.
- 3Strong CAD model, blueprint, and GD&T interpretation skills.
- 4Solid understanding of tooling, materials, speeds and feeds, and machining strategies.
- 5Hands-on machining background sufficient to prove out and edit programs at the control.
- 65-axis programming experience and experience with titanium, Inconel, and stainless steel (preferred).
- 7Experience in an AS9100 or aerospace environment (preferred).
- 8Familiarity with ERP/MRP systems and lean manufacturing principles (preferred).
