Overview
Peninsula Iron Works, an Astec company, seeks a skilled CNC Machinist to set up, operate, and troubleshoot CNC mills and lathes on large precision components. You will read complex blueprints and GD&T, verify parts with precision measuring tools, and maintain tooling and workholding while adhering to safety standards. This role supports critical industries including mining, energy, and steel production with on-time, high-quality machining. What You'll Do10
- 1Build and run CNC vertical and horizontal mills and CNC lathes to produce large components
- 2Verify CNC programs and load data to ensure quality and productivity within standard run times
- 3Perform turning, milling, drilling, boring, reaming, tapping, and related CNC processes to exact specifications
- 4Read and interpret complex blueprints and GD&T drawings to guide machining operations
- 5Inspect finished parts using precision measuring tools to verify dimensional accuracy
- 6Make tool offsets and program adjustments to maintain quality and output
- 7Troubleshoot machining issues and resolve setup or tooling problems
- 8Maintain tooling, fixtures, and workholding equipment for consistent performance
- 9Complete production and inspection documentation accurately
- 10Safely move and position large workpieces using overhead cranes and rigging equipment
Requirements9
- 1Experience setting up and operating CNC mills and/or lathes in a manufacturing environment
- 2Ability to read complex blueprints and understand GD&T
- 3Proficiency with precision measuring tools including micrometers, calipers, bore gauges, and indicators
- 4Experience making tool offsets and troubleshooting CNC machining processes
- 5Familiarity with Fanuc or similar CNC controls preferred
- 6Experience machining large industrial components is highly desirable
- 7Overhead crane and rigging experience is a plus
- 8Strong attention to detail and commitment to producing high-quality work
- 9Proficiency in CNC tooling, programming, machine setup, and manual machining skills
