CNC Machinist, Aerospace Milling & Turning
Overview
You will set up and operate CNC and conventional machines to produce aerospace hardware to tolerances within .001. This role centers on CNC milling with Fanuc and Okuma controls in a high-mix, high-volume shop. You will interpret GD&T blueprints and work with materials like stainless steel and Inconel. You will own complete set-ups, program edits, and quality checks. This position offers 3 shifts and potential for overtime in a major aerospace program.
What You'll Do8
- 1Set up and operate Fanuc and Okuma controlled CNC mills and lathes for production runs to .001 tolerances.
- 2Edit G-code programs on 3- and 4-axis CNC machines to optimize cycle times and part quality.
- 3Interpret GD&T blueprints and inspect parts using micrometers, calipers, and CMM to verify dimensions.
- 4Machine stainless steel and Inconel components for commercial aircraft programs.
- 5Perform changeovers and set-ups on Okuma Crown and Haas equipment in a high-mix environment.
- 6Document production data in the ERP system and paperless timecard system.
- 7Troubleshoot machining issues and implement corrective actions to maintain quality.
- 8Train junior machinists on set-up procedures and safe machine operation.
Requirements9
- 15+ years of journey-level CNC machining experience in a production environment.
- 2Hands-on CNC milling with Fanuc and Okuma controls, including program editing.
- 3Proficiency with manual lathes and mills to tolerances within .001.
- 4Strong understanding of GD&T and blueprint reading.
- 5Ability to calculate speeds, feeds, and trigonometry for part geometry.
- 6Experience with high-mix, high-volume production and frequent changeovers.
- 7Familiarity with Inconel and stainless steel machining is preferred.
- 8High school diploma or GED.
- 9Willingness to work any shift, including weekends.
