CNC Machinist 2nd Shift, Swiss & Multi-Axis
Overview
You will own setup, operation, and troubleshooting of CNC machines at Binks US LLC in Detroit, producing first articles that meet strict quality specs. Your work spans Hass, Hardinge, and Tsugami Swiss equipment, feeding a global manufacturing line for spray and dispense systems. You will collaborate with manufacturing engineers and programmers to insource projects and drive SQDC targets. This 2nd shift role (4pm-2:30am) offers direct impact on production throughput and quality, with training responsibilities for new operators.
What You'll Do9
- 1Set up and operate CNC machines to achieve first article within the first 90 days, interpreting blueprints and MIPs accurately.
- 2Load and unload parts and raw material safely, performing side operations like deburring to keep cycle times optimal.
- 3Troubleshoot machine issues, adjusting tool wear offsets and changing tooling to maintain quality throughout production.
- 4Inspect work using precision measuring tools (micrometers, calipers, pin gauges) and document quality measurements and defects.
- 5Maintain 5S standards in the cell, performing daily cleaning and light maintenance on CNC machinery.
- 6Palletize material and keep Kanban records current to support just-in-time flow.
- 7Meet production goals for cycle time, quantity, and quality, working toward SQDC targets.
- 8Support manufacturing engineers in daily production and special insourcing projects, acting as process expert and trainer.
- 9Operate other NC-controlled and manual equipment as required to keep the line moving.
Requirements10
- 13-5 years operating CNC machines, with experience on Hass, Hardinge, or Tsugami Swiss equipment.
- 2High school diploma or GED, plus technical certificate preferred.
- 3Proven skill in reading blueprints, bills of materials, and part specifications.
- 4Ability to use 6-12 inch scale, vernier calipers, comparator, pin gauge, thread gauges, and micrometer.
- 5Experience performing tool wear offsets and adjusting machine settings on the fly.
- 6Machining experience with nickel-based stainless steel (Inconel, Monel), copper, aluminum, or titanium.
- 7Strong math skills for simple to moderate calculations.
- 8Ability to prioritize work and operate with minimal supervision.
- 9Commitment to safe work practices and quality attention.
- 102nd shift availability required (4pm-2:30am EST).
