Civil Engineer, Land Development & Water Systems
Overview
You will own land development, water distribution, and wastewater design and construction for federal projects in the Mid-Atlantic, coordinating with client stakeholders and government entities. You will lead multi-disciplinary teams and subcontracted design teams, ensuring projects meet budget, schedule, and quality standards. This role sits on the Federal Markets team at mcfa, a professional services firm in the Architecture/Engineering/Construction (AEC) industry. You will serve as the civil engineering liaison with the U.S. Army Garrison and the Directorate of Public Works. What You'll Do8
- 1Lead design and construction of land development, water distribution, and wastewater projects for federal clients, ensuring compliance with MDE permitting requirements.
- 2Coordinate with client stakeholders, including the U.S. Army Garrison and Directorate of Public Works, to align project scope, schedule, and budgets.
- 3Manage and lead subcontracted design teams, providing technical direction and quality control on all deliverables.
- 4Review project plans and specifications for accuracy, constructability, and adherence to federal standards.
- 5Track project budgets and schedules, reporting progress to leadership and adjusting plans to maintain milestones.
- 6Integrate environmental considerations into project execution, addressing routine and non-routine issues proactively.
- 7Serve as primary civil engineering contact for government entities, facilitating approvals and resolving technical conflicts.
- 8Mentor junior engineers and support team development, sharing expertise in civil systems and federal project delivery.
Requirements9
- 1Active Professional Engineer (PE) license in good standing (any state).
- 2Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering or related field.
- 35+ years of civil engineering experience with emphasis on land development, water distribution, and wastewater design and construction.
- 4Experience working with permitting agencies such as the Maryland Department of the Environment.
- 5Demonstrated ability to lead multi-disciplinary teams and manage complex projects.
- 6Strong communication and liaison skills, with experience interfacing with government clients.
- 7Proficiency in civil engineering software for design and analysis, including AutoCAD Civil 3D and Hydraflow.
- 8Knowledge of federal project delivery processes and UFC standards.
- 9U.S. citizenship required for federal site access.
