You will lead the accounting team, modernize systems, and challenge the status quo with data. This role is for a leader who builds the future, not just reports on the past.

What You'll Do10

  • 4Implement a rolling 13-week cash forecast and annual planning process with monthly reforecasts.
  • 5Own billing, AR, and AP functions, ensuring accurate pay applications, lien rights, and vendor payment discipline.
  • 6Negotiate banking, equipment financing, and surety relationships to optimize terms and reduce risk.
  • 7Evaluate capital allocation for fleet purchases, trades, or leases using cost-per-hour and replacement models.
  • 8Upgrade the ERP and job-costing stack to improve data accuracy and real-time visibility.
  • 9Develop the accounting team, moving your own time from transactional oversight to strategic analysis.
  • 10Challenge operational assumptions with real-time data before decisions are made.

Requirements10

  • 110+ years of progressive finance leadership, including FP&A ownership in an operating business.
  • 2Proven success in driving gross margin improvement, not just reporting on it.
  • 3Deep command of job costing, including labor, equipment, and materials for project-based work.
  • 4Direct experience managing banking, lender, and surety relationships.
  • 5Track record leading billing, AR, and AP teams in a project environment.
  • 6Comfortable on a jobsite, able to converse with superintendents and crew leads.
  • 7Willing to be direct with the CEO and peers when numbers challenge the plan.
  • 8Preferred: commercial construction, heavy equipment financing, or multi-branch experience.
  • 9CPA or MBA preferred.
  • 10If from a controller role, must show FP&A depth and leadership beyond accounting.
