Overview
You will oversee full-cycle accounting for construction clients in the Austin area, reporting directly to client leadership. You own month-end close, job costing, WIP reporting, and project profitability across active portfolios. You work alongside project managers and executives to drive financial visibility. This consulting role pairs hands-on accounting with strategic advisory, offering variety across commercial and residential projects. You bring 5+ years of controller experience and deep GAAP knowledge to a firm that values direct client impact.
What You'll Do8
- 1Own month-end and year-end close for multiple construction clients, delivering accurate financials in Sage 300 CRE or Viewpoint.
- 2Manage job costing and WIP schedules, tracking project budgets and cost variances weekly.
- 3Prepare financial statements and management reports, presenting variance analysis to project managers and owners.
- 4Drive project profitability by analyzing labor, equipment, and material costs, and recommending corrective actions.
- 5Coordinate subcontractor billing, lien waivers, and contract compliance, ensuring documentation meets GAAP.
- 6Oversee AP, AR, and payroll functions, maintaining internal controls and cash flow forecasts.
- 7Support bonding, banking, and audit requests with timely, accurate data for surety and lenders.
- 8Partner with project teams to close out jobs, reconciling final costs and revenue recognition.
Requirements6
- 15+ years of controller-level experience in construction accounting, including job costing and WIP.
- 2Hands-on expertise with Sage 300 CRE, Viewpoint, Procore, or Foundation.
- 3Strong GAAP knowledge, applied to revenue recognition and contract accounting.
- 4Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field; CPA preferred.
- 5Ability to work onsite with Austin clients, traveling to job sites as needed.
- 6Client-facing mindset, with clear communication for non-finance stakeholders.
