Overview
As Finance Controller, you own financial reporting, month-end close, job costing, and consolidation across multiple entities at Summit Drilling, a growing environmental and geotechnical contractor. You report to the CFO and lead the accounting team, ensuring precise project profitability and cash flow. You drive acquisition integration and standardize processes as the company expands its Eastern U.S. footprint. Your focus is on building scalable financial infrastructure that supports strategic growth.
What You'll Do10
- 1Lead all accounting functions including accounts payable, accounts receivable, billing, general ledger, and revenue recognition.
- 2Oversee monthly, quarterly, and annual close processes across multiple entities, ensuring timely reconciliations.
- 3Prepare and distribute monthly financial statements and management reporting packages.
- 4Coordinate annual budgeting and forecasting with operational leadership, analyzing budget-to-actual variances.
- 5Maintain weekly 13-week cash flow forecasts and partner with the Collections Manager to reduce DSO.
- 6Supervise WIP reporting, project accounting, and contract profitability analysis for all service lines.
- 7Direct fleet and fixed asset accounting, including capital expenditures and depreciation schedules.
- 8Lead the financial integration of acquired companies, standardizing policies and reporting.
- 9Optimize GoldFinch and related financial systems for multi-entity consolidations and intercompany transactions.
- 10Manage external audits, lender reporting, and compliance with all federal, state, and local requirements.
Requirements10
- 18-12+ years of progressive accounting and finance experience.
- 2Minimum 3 years in a Controller or Assistant Controller role.
- 3Strong experience in project-based accounting, including job costing and WIP reporting.
- 4Proven success with month-end close, financial reporting, and forecasting.
- 5Multi-entity accounting and consolidation experience.
- 6Experience managing external audits and lender reporting.
- 7Deep understanding of revenue recognition and contract accounting.
- 8Advanced Excel skills for financial modeling and reporting.
- 9Experience with construction or project-based ERP systems.
- 10Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or Business Administration; CPA strongly preferred.
