Certified Pharmacy Technician (PTCB), Retail Pharmacy
Overview
As a Certified Pharmacy Technician at Walgreens, you will own prescription processing and patient interactions in a high-volume retail pharmacy. You will support the pharmacist in daily operations, from data entry to inventory control, ensuring accuracy and compliance. You will also coach newer technicians if PTCB certified. What You'll Do10
- 1Input patient and drug information into pharmacy systems, verify accuracy, and process prescriptions.
- 2Fill prescriptions by retrieving, counting, and pouring medications, checking for interactions.
- 3Assist pharmacists in managing workflow and scheduling to minimize wait times.
- 4Register sales on the cash register, handle cash, and resolve customer issues.
- 5Process manual claims for third-party programs, correcting and resubmitting as needed.
- 6Support inventory management: order, unpack, check, and store pharmaceutical shipments.
- 7File claims for overages, shortages, or damages involving Rx drugs.
- 8Assist in clinical services, including collecting and labeling blood or urine samples.
- 9Build relationships with local medical providers through outreach and detailing.
- 10Maintain a clean, organized pharmacy and comply with all company policies.
Requirements9
- 1PTCB certification required (or obtain within timeframe).
- 26+ months of retail experience preferred.
- 3Proficiency in reading, writing, and speaking English.
- 4Willingness to work flexible hours, including evenings and weekends.
- 5Basic math skills for accurate counting, measuring, and weighing.
- 6Computer skills for pharmacy systems and data entry.
- 7Knowledge of inventory control procedures.
- 8Strong customer service and communication skills.
- 9Ability to stand for long periods and lift up to 20 lbs.
