Walgreens Pharmacy Technician and Pharmacy Technician Apprentice roles place you at the core of patient care, moving beyond transactions to build strong patient relationships. You will work under direct pharmacist supervision, using pharmacy systems to process prescriptions and assist with clinical services. What You'll Do10
- 1Greet customers and patients, offering assistance with products and services, and resolve issues to ensure a positive experience.
- 2Enter patient and drug information into pharmacy systems, fill prescriptions by retrieving, counting, and pouring medications, and verify for accuracy and interactions.
- 3Assist pharmacists in scheduling and maintaining workflow, and immediately report any prescription errors to the pharmacist on duty.
- 4Register sales on the cash register, handle cash, and direct customers to OTC aisles for product location.
- 5Process manual claims for third party programs, correct and resubmit as needed, and handle telephone calls that do not require pharmacist attention.
- 6Support inventory management: order, unpack, check, and store pharmaceuticals, and file claims for overages, shortages, or errors.
- 7Assist in clinical services, including collecting and labeling blood or urine samples, and support coordination with Walgreens healthcare clinics.
- 8Help develop relationships with the local medical community through provider detailing and outreach to health groups and nursing homes.
- 9Maintain a clean, orderly pharmacy department, comply with company policies, and complete special assignments as needed.
- 10Earn and maintain PTCB certification through the designated training program, and attend training and continuing education as required.
Requirements8
- 1Must be fluent in reading, writing, and speaking English.
- 2Willingness to work flexible schedule, including evening and weekend hours.
- 3Prefer 6 months of experience in a retail environment.
- 4Prefer prior work experience with Walgreens.
- 5Prefer good math skills for accurate prescription filling, including counting, measuring, and weighing medications.
- 6Prefer good computer skills.
- 7Prefer knowledge of store inventory control.
- 8Prefer PTCB certification.
Salary Insight
$17 - $20k per year
