Overview
You will train to become a PTCB Certified Pharmacy Technician while earning pay in Walgreens' ASHP-recognized apprenticeship program. What You'll Do10
- 1Greet customers and patients, offering assistance with products and services and resolving issues to ensure a positive experience.
- 2Enter patient and drug information into pharmacy systems, verify accuracy, and fill prescriptions by retrieving, counting, and pouring medications.
- 3Check for possible drug interactions and report any prescription errors to the pharmacist on duty immediately.
- 4Assist pharmacists with workflow scheduling and maintain the pharmacy department's cleanliness and organization.
- 5Register sales, handle cash, and process third-party claims for prescription services.
- 6Support inventory management by ordering, unpacking, checking, and storing pharmaceutical shipments, and filing claims for overages, shortages, or damages.
- 7Assist in administering clinical services, including collecting and labeling blood or urine samples, and coordinate with healthcare clinics and external providers.
- 8Build relationships with the local medical community through outreach to physicians, nurses, and health groups.
- 9Complete training and earn PTCB certification through the designated program, attending required sessions and earning continuing education credits.
- 10Model and share customer service best practices with team members to deliver a distinctive and delightful experience.
Requirements9
- 1Must be fluent in reading, writing, and speaking English.
- 2Willing to work a flexible schedule, including evening and weekend hours.
- 36+ months of experience in a retail environment preferred.
- 4Prior work experience with Walgreens preferred.
- 5Strong math skills for accurate counting, measuring, and weighing medications preferred.
- 6Good computer skills preferred.
- 7Knowledge of store inventory control preferred.
- 8PTCB certification preferred, but not required for entry.
- 9Must comply with all company policies and procedures, including the Walgreens Pharmacy Code of Conduct.
