Pharmacy Technician Apprenticeship, PTCB Training
Overview
You will train hands-on as a Pharmacy Technician at Walgreens, earning while you learn in an ASHP recognized program. You will assist pharmacists, process prescriptions, and serve patients directly. This role puts you at the core of patient care with PTCB certification support and a clear path to advancement. You will work onsite in Dallas with a supportive team and modern pharmacy systems.
What You'll Do10
- 1Greet customers and offer assistance with products and services, resolving issues to ensure a positive experience.
- 2Enter patient and drug information into pharmacy systems, verifying accuracy and checking for interactions.
- 3Fill prescriptions by retrieving, counting, and pouring medications, and confirm correctness before pharmacist review.
- 4Register sales, handle cash, and manage phone calls that do not require the pharmacist.
- 5Correct and resubmit manual claims for third party programs to ensure timely billing.
- 6Support inventory management by ordering, unpacking, checking, and storing pharmaceutical shipments.
- 7Report prescription errors immediately to the pharmacist and follow quality improvement procedures.
- 8Assist with clinical services like collecting and labeling blood or urine samples as needed.
- 9Maintain a clean and organized pharmacy department, stocking supplies and ensuring order.
- 10Complete special assignments and participate in ongoing training to earn PTCB certification.
Requirements8
- 1Must be fluent in reading, writing, and speaking English.
- 2Willing to work flexible hours, including evenings and weekends.
- 36+ months experience in a retail environment preferred.
- 4Prior work experience with Walgreens preferred.
- 5Good math skills for counting, measuring, and weighing medications.
- 6Basic computer skills for pharmacy systems.
- 7Knowledge of store inventory control preferred.
- 8PTCB certification preferred, but training provided.
