Overview
You will support pharmacists in dispensing prescriptions, managing inventory, and delivering customer care at a high-volume Boston pharmacy. You will use pharmacy systems to process orders, verify medications, and handle insurance claims. Working under direct supervision, you will assist with clinical services, customer interactions, and workflow coordination. PTCB certification is preferred, and you will earn it if not already certified. This role offers hands-on experience in retail pharmacy operations and a path to senior technician.
What You'll Do10
- 1Greet customers and offer assistance, resolving issues to ensure a positive experience
- 2Process prescriptions using pharmacy systems, including entering patient data and checking for interactions
- 3Fill prescriptions accurately by retrieving, counting, and pouring medications
- 4Report prescription errors to the pharmacist on duty immediately
- 5Register sales on the cash register and handle cash transactions
- 6Assist with inventory management, including ordering, unpacking, and checking shipments
- 7Handle phone calls from physicians and other providers when pharmacist attention is not needed
- 8Correct and resubmit manual claims for third-party prescription programs
- 9Assist with clinical services, such as collecting and labeling blood or urine samples
- 10Maintain a clean and organized pharmacy department, restocking supplies as needed
Requirements8
- 1Fluency in reading, writing, and speaking English
- 2Willingness to work a flexible schedule, including evenings and weekends
- 3Six months of retail experience preferred
- 4Prior work experience with Walgreens preferred
- 5Strong math skills for counting, measuring, and weighing medications
- 6Good computer skills for pharmacy systems
- 7Knowledge of store inventory control preferred
- 8PTCB certification preferred
