Overview
You will support the pharmacist in prescription processing and patient care at a high-volume retail pharmacy. You will own accurate data entry, drug dispensing, and customer service, directly impacting patient safety and satisfaction. You will use pharmacy systems like Intercom Plus to manage prescriptions and patient records. If PTCB certified, you will coach technicians and cashiers on workflow. What You'll Do10
- 1Greet customers and offer assistance with products, resolving issues to ensure a positive experience.
- 2Enter patient and drug information into pharmacy systems accurately, verifying correctness.
- 3Fill prescriptions by retrieving, counting, and pouring drugs, checking for interactions.
- 4Assist pharmacists in scheduling and maintaining workflow, prioritizing urgent prescriptions.
- 5Report prescription errors immediately to the pharmacist on duty and follow the Quality Improvement Program.
- 6Register sales on the cash register, handle cash, and direct customers to OTC aisle when needed.
- 7Process manual claims for third-party programs, correcting and resubmitting in a timely manner.
- 8Support inventory management: order, unpack, check, and store pharmaceutical shipments.
- 9Collect and label blood/urine samples as directed, assisting with clinical services and coordination with Walgreens clinics.
- 10Build relationships with local medical providers by detailing and outreach to health groups and nursing homes.
Requirements8
- 1Fluency in reading, writing, and speaking English.
- 2Willingness to work a flexible schedule, including evenings and weekends.
- 3PTCB certification or willingness to earn it as a condition of promotion.
- 46+ months of retail experience preferred.
- 5Basic math skills for accurate counting, measuring, and weighing medications.
- 6Computer proficiency in pharmacy systems.
- 7Knowledge of inventory control practices.
- 8Prior Walgreens experience is a plus.
