Overview
You will operate an automated side load refuse truck on residential routes, collecting garbage, yard waste, and recycling for Waste Pro in Raleigh, North Carolina. You will cover designated zones, manage daily pre- and post-trip inspections, and unload at landfills or transfer stations. You'll lead a team of helpers and ensure exceptional service while meeting safety and operational standards. This role offers a $10,000 driver award attainable every 3 years for meeting specific criteria, and rewards energetic, team-oriented professionals.
What You'll Do10
- 1Drive the automated side load truck on pre-established routes, adhering to DOT regulations and defensive driving principles.
- 2Collect and dump residential garbage, yard waste, and recycling, including using the back door when needed.
- 3Unload refuse at the landfill, transfer station, or similar facility, managing hydraulic controls for large bins.
- 4Tag improper refuse containers and waste to maintain route standards.
- 5Perform daily pre-trip and post-trip inspections per Waste Pro procedures and DOT guidelines, including under-hood checks, fluid levels, and tire pressure.
- 6Keep the truck clean by washing the exterior weekly and maintaining interior order.
- 7Oversee helpers on your route, ensuring safety and productivity for all persons on the vehicle.
- 8Submit required reports and documentation, including DVIR logs, on time.
- 9Respond to customer service requests with a courteous and expeditious manner, embodying the "Distinguishable Difference".
- 10Attend corporate-sponsored training and stay current on Waste Pro technology and procedures.
Requirements11
- 1Hold a valid Class A or B CDL for the state of North Carolina.
- 2Maintain a clean driving record and be 21 years or older.
- 3Demonstrate 2+ years of commercial driving experience, preferably in refuse collection.
- 4Understand refuse collection policies, procedures, and DOT requirements for commercial motor vehicle operators.
- 5Hear and see in the normal range (with or without correction) to operate safely and communicate with dispatch.
- 6Exhibit normal range of body motion to drive front-end, side, rear-end, or roll-off trucks, including right-hand drive positions.
- 7Manipulate heavy equipment control levers and follow designated routes or schedules.
- 8Comprehend and execute oral and written instructions, and maintain written records.
- 9Speak and read English well enough to interact with customers, co-workers, dispatch, and supervisors, and to understand highway signals.
- 10Physically push, pull, or lift 50 pounds independently 800 to 1000 times per day, and get in and out of the cab up to 1000 times daily.
- 11Work 8 to 12 hours in extreme weather conditions, tolerating noise, vibrations, fumes, and odors.
