Driver Trainee, Waste & Recycling
Overview
You will train side-by-side with experienced drivers to earn your Class B CDL and service residential and commercial routes for Rumpke, one of the largest waste and recycling firms. You will master safety protocols and route operations while learning to handle 300-500 daily stops in a demanding physical role. What You'll Do10
- 1Attend classroom and field training to prepare for the Class B CDL permit and license exams.
- 2Assist as a helper during training to complete daily routes, entering and exiting the truck 300-500 times per day.
- 3Operate collection vehicles safely according to local, state, and federal regulations, including CDL standards.
- 4Service assigned routes, collecting waste or recycling materials and hauling them to disposal sites.
- 5Clean up waste spills and overflows to maintain public safety and company image.
- 6Maintain accurate route sheets and log sheets via Mobile Logs or paper forms.
- 7Conduct pre-trip and post-trip inspections of the truck, reporting any mechanical issues.
- 8Interact professionally with internal and external customers while on route.
- 9Work overtime, weekends, and holidays as needed to meet service demands.
- 10Complete additional tasks as assigned to support team operations.
Requirements10
- 119+ years of age and legally eligible to work in the US.
- 2Valid driver's license with no more than 3 moving violations in the last 2 years.
- 3No DUIs or OVIs within the last 5 years (or 2 within the last 10).
- 4Ability to obtain a DOT medical card within 10 days of employment.
- 5Ability to obtain a Class B CDL permit within 60 days and full Class B CDL within 90 days.
- 6Physical strength to frequently lift, carry, push, and pull up to 75 lbs.
- 7Comfort working outdoors in all weather conditions, including wet, humid, and dusty environments.
- 8Ability to read and understand maps for route navigation.
- 9Strong verbal and written communication skills for customer interaction.
- 10Willingness to work flexible hours, including nights and weekends.
