Overview
As a Cashier at Cosentino's Price Chopper, you'll own the front-end checkout experience, processing sales accurately for hundreds of customers each shift. You'll join a tight-knit Front-End Team that prioritizes Red-Carpet Service and operational precision. This role goes beyond scanning items: you'll master point-of-sale systems, handle SNAP and WIC transactions, and maintain a spotless checkout area. It's a fast-paced role where your positivity and communication skills directly shape customer loyalty.
What You'll Do10
- 1Process customer transactions using the cash register and point of sale system, ensuring accuracy and speed.
- 2Handle cash, make change, and balance the cash drawer at end of shift, following cash handling procedures.
- 3Receive payments via cash, check, gift cards, credit/debit cards, coupons, and other approved methods, including SNAP and WIC transactions.
- 4Greet customers, answer questions, and resolve issues, delivering Red-Carpet Service at all times.
- 5Identify products by PLU, scale, or product number, and scan items correctly to minimize errors.
- 6Bag merchandise carefully and suggest additional products to boost sales.
- 7Maintain a clean and organized checkout area, following food safety and sanitation standards.
- 8Stock shelves as needed to keep the front-end fully displayed.
- 9Train new cashiers when directed, supporting the team's orientation process.
- 10Complete ongoing training on Cosentino's Learning Plan and comply with all liquor and food handler permits within 14 days.
Requirements9
- 1General knowledge of cash handling procedures.
- 2Working knowledge of cash register operation.
- 3Demonstrated ability to provide excellent customer service.
- 4General mathematics skills for accurate transactions.
- 5Effective communication skills with customers and team members.
- 6Ability to multitask in a fast-paced retail environment.
- 7High School diploma or equivalent preferred.
- 8Physical ability to stand, walk, lift up to 30 lbs, and climb a 5 ft ladder.
- 9Preferred: experience with bagging, stocking, or cashiering in retail.
