What You'll Do9
- 1Abstract patient histories, diagnoses, staging, and treatment data for CoC and FCDS compliance.
- 2Review abstract edits and resolve errors to maintain a 90% accuracy benchmark.
- 3Identify reportable cancer cases from pathology, cytology, and discharge records.
- 4Classify cases as analytic or nonanalytic per registry standards.
- 5Complete patient follow-up activities per CoC standards.
- 6Submit accurate data to FCDS and manage RCRS measures.
- 7Apply current registry standards and maintain manuals.
- 8Support tumor conferences and Cancer Committee activities.
- 9Obtain and renew FCDS Abstractor Code and ODS-C certification.
Requirements9
- 1Associate of Arts or Science degree.
- 21+ years of cancer registry abstracting in a CoC-accredited facility.
- 3FCDS Abstractor Code required within one month of hire.
- 4ODS-C certification required within one year of hire.
- 5Knowledge of NCRA, FCDS, CoC, and NAACCR standards.
- 6Proficiency in Epic and data-entry applications.
- 7Strong analytical, critical-thinking, and organizational skills.
- 8Effective written and verbal communication with physicians and external agencies.
- 9Ability to work independently and manage multiple priorities.
