Certified Medical Assistant, Oncology Front Desk
Overview
Own patient intake, insurance verification, and front-desk operations for a fast-paced Hematology Oncology practice in Tampa. You will manage check-in/check-out, answer phones, and obtain prior authorizations while coordinating with the care team. Work directly with Eclinicalworks EMR and support daily clinic flow. This role blends clinical and administrative duties to keep the office running smoothly.
What You'll Do7
- 1Check in and check out patients, verify insurance eligibility, and collect copays and payments
- 2Answer phones, schedule referral appointments, and document messages in Eclinicalworks
- 3Prepare patient charts, scan and fax documents, and organize faxes from the fax server
- 4Call back patients with results and relay prescription refill requests to the pharmacy
- 5Obtain prior authorizations for oncology medications and procedures
- 6Assist front desk staff with patient inquiries, registration forms, and HIPAA compliance
- 7Coordinate with clinical staff to ensure smooth patient flow and timely appointments
Requirements7
- 11+ year of medical assistant experience in an outpatient clinic
- 2Certified Medical Assistant credential (CMA, RMA, or equivalent)
- 3Experience with EHR systems, Eclinicalworks preferred
- 4Knowledge of insurance verification, prior authorization, and billing processes
- 5Excellent phone etiquette and customer service skills
- 6Ability to multitask and prioritize in a busy oncology office
- 7High school diploma or equivalent; additional medical training preferred
