Cable Harness Assembler (IPC/WHMA-A-620)
Overview
You will build and assemble cable and wire harnesses to IPC/WHMA-A-620 Class 3 workmanship standards, supporting a leading manufacturing company in Orlando, FL. Your work will span from reading wiring diagrams to performing soldering, crimping, and quality inspections. You will join a collaborative team of engineers, quality specialists, and production staff focused on delivering high-reliability assemblies. This long-term role offers $21–$24/hour based on experience, with potential for permanent employment.
What You'll Do10
- 1Build cable and wire harnesses from wiring diagrams, schematics, blueprints, and written work instructions.
- 2Perform soldering, crimping, and connector assembly to IPC/WHMA-A-620 Class 3 standards.
- 3Plug contacts into connectors and torque backshells to specification.
- 4Form wires and harnesses using boards, fixtures, and tooling.
- 5Assemble electronic and mechanical components, including modules, boards, panels, frames, and drawers.
- 6Run continuity checks on work-in-process and completed assemblies.
- 7Conduct quality inspections to verify assemblies meet specifications.
- 8Disassemble, modify, rework, and reassemble components as needed.
- 9Test assemblies and subassemblies according to established specifications.
- 10Troubleshoot assembly issues and perform necessary rework.
Requirements20
- 11+ years of manufacturing assembly experience required.
- 2Previous cable harness or wire harness assembly experience required.
- 33+ years of experience for the higher-skilled position.
- 4Experience reading blueprints, wiring diagrams, schematics, and wire harness prints.
- 5Hands-on experience with soldering, crimping, and connector assembly.
- 6Experience working to IPC/WHMA-A-620 Class 3 workmanship standards.
- 7Completed IPC/WHMA-A-620 training or current certification preferred.
- 8J-STD-001 certification preferred.
- 9IPC-A-610 experience preferred for higher-level candidates.
- 10Ability to perform continuity checks and identify assembly defects.
- 11Strong attention to detail and commitment to quality.
- 12Strong mechanical aptitude and hand dexterity.
- 13Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
- 14Strong problem-solving skills and continuous improvement mindset.
- 15Previous defense, aerospace, or space industry experience preferred for higher-level candidates.
- 16Must be authorized to work in the United States without sponsorship.
- 17Must complete background screening and drug testing.
