
Business Analyst Child Welfare & Child Support
Overview
Own the bridge between state government stakeholders and technical teams in Austin, TX for Child Welfare and Child Support programs. What You'll Do8
- 1Gather and analyze business needs from Child Welfare and Child Support program staff, documenting workflows and pain points.
- 2Create functional requirements, user stories, and acceptance criteria for system enhancements in Texas's human-services ecosystem.
- 3Lead requirement walkthroughs with developers and QA teams, clarifying ambiguities and ensuring alignment with state policies.
- 4Map current and future state process flows using Visio or Lucidchart, identifying gaps and improvement opportunities.
- 5Facilitate Joint Application Design (JAD) sessions with state stakeholders to define scope for new case management modules.
- 6Track requirement traceability from intake to deployment, managing changes through a SaaS-based tool like Jira.
- 7Support user acceptance testing (UAT) by defining test scenarios and coordinating business sign-off.
- 8Collaborate with data analysts to validate data requirements against SQL queries and PowerBI dashboards.
Requirements7
- 13+ years of business analysis experience in Child Welfare or Child Support programs within a government or public sector setting.
- 2Demonstrated ability to write functional requirements and user stories for state human-services information systems.
- 32+ years of experience with Agile methodologies, including sprint planning and backlog refinement.
- 4Proficiency in process modeling tools such as Visio or Lucidchart.
- 5Strong verbal and written communication for stakeholder interviews and requirement documentation.
- 6Willingness to work 3 days onsite in Austin, TX; candidates must reside within 50 miles.
- 7Preferred: experience with SALESFORCE or Cúram for Child Welfare case management.
