Overview

As a Bilingual Youth Worker at NYAP's La Jornada program, you will own daily mentoring and support for youth in a structured out-of-school setting. You will create a safe, caring atmosphere and guide youth toward their individual goals. Working closely with the Out of School Coordinator, you will prepare activities, document progress, and serve as a trusted advocate. What You'll Do7

  • 1Build trusting relationships with youth by interacting daily and supporting them in achieving their identified goals.
  • 2Facilitate a warm, caring, and safe environment during program activities and room preparations.
  • 3Lead youth through structured activities, modeling positive leadership and appropriate behavior.
  • 4Report any issues promptly to the Out of School Coordinator.
  • 5Complete all required training and documentation within deadlines per state, contract, and licensing standards.
  • 6Maintain a positive attitude toward youth, coworkers, and families, enhancing program culture.
  • 7Use Microsoft Office including Excel and Word to track attendance, progress notes, and other records.

Requirements10

  • 1High School Diploma or GED equivalent.
  • 2Bilingual English/Spanish fluency.
  • 31+ years experience working with minors in a youth program or similar setting.
  • 4Excellent interpersonal and communication skills to engage effectively with minors.
  • 5Patience and empathy to support youth through developmental stages.
  • 6Flexibility and adaptability to handle dynamic situations.
  • 7Proficiency with Microsoft Office including Excel and Word.
  • 8Valid driver's license, reliable transportation, and automotive insurance with $100,000/$300,000 bodily injury liability coverage.
  • 9Age 21 or older.
  • 10Proficiency with desktop and laptop computers, internet search, and office equipment.
