Assistant Store Manager, Retail Operations
Overview
You will own daily store operations, customer service, and team development at a high-volume Dollar Tree location. You direct a team of store associates, manage merchandising, and enforce safety and compliance standards. This role reports to the Store Manager and includes opening and closing duties, inventory control, and loss prevention. You will lead by example, train associates, and maintain a clean, organized store environment.
What You'll Do9
- 1Oversee day-to-day store activities, including opening and closing procedures, cash handling, and associate supervision.
- 2Lead customer interactions with a positive, approachable demeanor, resolving questions and concerns on the spot.
- 3Direct the flow of merchandise from delivery truck to stockroom to sales floor, ensuring seasonal areas stay current.
- 4Execute corporate directives such as Pull and Hold/Destroy and Key Survey information requests.
- 5Maintain promotional effectiveness of store-front fixtures and displays, adjusting merchandising per schematics.
- 6Manage ordering, damaged merchandise processing, and record keeping for payroll, scheduling, and cash deposits.
- 7Protect company assets by enforcing loss prevention procedures and conducting regular store audits.
- 8Train, develop, and supervise store associates, promoting a respectful and safety-conscious work environment.
- 9Sustain store cleanliness, including restrooms, floors, trash, and overall presentation to company standards.
Requirements7
- 1High school diploma or equivalent preferred, with ability to read and interpret operational directives.
- 2Store management experience in retail, grocery, or drug store environment preferred.
- 3Ability to lift 55 lbs from floor to above shoulder height and meet physical demands of frequent walking, standing, stooping, kneeling, climbing, and repetitive lifting.
- 4Strong communication, interpersonal, and written skills required.
- 5Proven customer service and organizational skills in a high-energy team environment.
- 6Strong problem-solving and decision-making abilities.
- 7Availability to work flexible hours including evenings, weekends, and holidays.
