Assistant Project Manager, Modular Construction
Overview
You will assist in managing modular construction projects from concept through client handoff, working with Project Managers and cross-functional teams at Volumetric Building Companies (VBC). You will coordinate design, manufacturing, procurement, and logistics, using tools like SAP, BIM360, and Smartsheet to track scope, schedule, and budget. You will report project health to leadership and support closeout, while learning to independently manage projects. This role offers hands-on exposure to the full lifecycle of volumetric modular projects, ideal for someone with 3+ years in AEC or manufacturing.
What You'll Do10
- 1Assist managing projects from concept through design, manufacturing, construction, and client handoff under PM supervision.
- 2Prepare, submit, and manage approval of all submittals, reviewing for conformance with project specifications.
- 3Monitor and route RFIs to ensure timely communication and coordination.
- 4Schedule and organize factory and field inspections, punch lists, and support project closeout documentation.
- 5Maintain the project master schedule daily, communicating potential delays, deviations, and risks.
- 6Maintain project file organization, upload design drawings in the project management system, and update stakeholders on design changes.
- 7Assist in monitoring the project budget, reviewing client billings against progress, and supporting approval of invoices.
- 8Coordinate with cross-functional teams including Project Architect, Systems Lead, and Procurement Lead to track long lead items.
- 9Review quality assessments from manufacturing teams and coordinate with logistics to implement shipping plans.
- 10Drive lessons learned feedback loops to improve standardization and efficiency in project delivery.
Requirements10
- 1Bachelor’s degree in architecture, engineering, or related field.
- 23+ years of related experience in AEC or manufacturing, or equivalent combination of education, training, and experience.
- 3Demonstrated ability to read and understand contract drawings (architectural, engineering).
- 4Proven written and verbal communication skills.
- 5Familiarity with AIA contract documents is a plus.
- 6Strong interpersonal skills with ability to work with individuals at all levels.
- 7Highly organized and motivated, with a positive attitude.
- 8Proficient with Microsoft Office including Word, Excel, Outlook, and Project.
- 9Experience with industry software such as SAP, BIM360, or Smartsheet.
- 10Ability to work independently.
Salary Insight
$75 - $105k per year
