Overview

The Construction Manager / Project Manager – Design & Construction serves as the on-site representative for the firm and the owner, coordinating the execution of commercial design and construction projects. This individual is ultimately accountable for the success of assigned projects and for delivering a great client experience by aligning the expectations of the owner, contractor, and design team. Located in Pittsburgh PA or Arlington VA with travel to client and project sites.

What You'll Do12

  • 1Serve as the primary construction point of contact for contractors, owners, and other agents employed by the owner
  • 2Manage and direct efficient communication among contractors, the firm, and the client, including submittal reviews and RFIs
  • 3Execute project plans through design bidding permitting and construction phases with focus on construction administration
  • 4Review Owner-Contractor agreements and design documents to enforce design intent
  • 5Represent owner interests throughout construction phase
  • 6Run or participate in OAC progress meetings
  • 7Manage construction budget and maintain monthly forecasts
  • 8Create and update project schedules across all phases and report on schedule risks
  • 9Assist in procurement of project teams and support contract negotiations
  • 10Coordinate among consultants, vendors, and contractors
  • 11Provide on-site supervision to ensure performance criteria are met
  • 12Develop relationships with consultants, contractors, and vendors and evaluate performance

Requirements11

  • 1High school diploma or equivalent required; Bachelor’s degree in Architecture Engineering Construction Management or Business from an accredited institution preferred
  • 25+ years progressive experience on commercial design or construction projects as a design/construction project manager program manager or owner’s representative
  • 3Strong technical knowledge of construction materials building trades and subcontractor relationships
  • 4Advanced knowledge of construction contract administration policies procedures and concepts
  • 5Ability to create and manage building design and construction project schedules and budgets
  • 610+ years progressive commercial design/construction project management experience
  • 7Proficiency in Procore or similar construction project management software
  • 8Skilled with scheduling software such as Primavera P6 Microsoft Project or Excel-based cost management tools
  • 9Comfortable using cloud-based and mobile technology for real-time collaboration
  • 10Track record of aligning owner contractor and design team expectations
  • 11Prior experience serving as site lead across full project lifecycle design bidding permitting and closeout
