Travel Project Manager, Construction & Data Centers
Overview
Oversee multi-million-dollar construction projects from pre-construction to closeout, owning schedule, budget, quality, and safety. Lead field project managers, general contractors, and owners while managing finances, resolving design issues, and driving seamless execution across trades. Frequent travel supports high-demand work, including data center builds, with Procore and Bluebeam as core tools. This role offers direct leadership of project engineers and assistant project managers, plus training of estimating staff, in a dynamic construction environment.
What You'll Do10
- 1Lead and consult with field project managers, general contractors, and owners to drive project outcomes and build strong relationships.
- 2Own projects from pre-construction through closeout, assuming full accountability for results.
- 3Manage pre-construction and pre-planning, including detailed construction schedules.
- 4Review and approve budgets for labor, materials, and subcontractors, allocating resources within limits.
- 5Negotiate, draft, and execute subcontractor contracts with external vendors.
- 6Manage project finances: profitability, cash flow, and cost control, implementing monthly cost reports.
- 7Resolve complex schedule, budget, and constructability issues, actively collaborating with engineers and architects.
- 8Lead strategic planning: submittals, RFIs, and change orders, resubmitting as needed.
- 9Oversee subcontractor performance and provide direct leadership to project engineers and assistant project managers.
- 10Enforce health and safety standards, review invoices, and coordinate with superintendents daily.
Requirements10
- 14+ years leading large, multi-million-dollar, complex construction projects.
- 2In-depth knowledge of construction procedures, materials, and project management principles.
- 3Experience managing schedules, budgets, and resources from pre-construction to completion.
- 4Proven skill in solving complex issues related to schedule, budget, and design coordination.
- 5Strong verbal, written, and interpersonal communication for interaction with owners, contractors, and architects.
- 6Dependable and available to meet project demands, including frequent travel.
- 7Organized with ability to manage work orders and personnel documents.
- 8Quick to learn new systems and software, including Procore and Bluebeam.
- 9Mechanical knowledge of construction systems, including pipe systems.
- 10Bachelor's degree in Construction Management or related field, or 10+ years of construction experience.
