Traveling Construction Superintendent, Retail Projects
Overview
Own nationwide retail construction projects from field kickoff to punch list. You lead on-site crews, 5+ years of retail construction experience, directing subcontractors and ensuring safety and quality at every step. This role partners with Project Managers and client stakeholders, turning blueprints into completed stores that meet brand standards. You bring hands-on problem solving and scheduling discipline to a Procore-managed environment. What You'll Do10
- 1Lead on-site construction for retail projects, directing daily work to match plans, specs, and schedules.
- 2Direct subcontractors and field crews, assigning tasks and holding teams to quality and productivity standards.
- 3Enforce safety protocols and quality control at every phase, from foundation to finish.
- 4Collaborate with Project Managers and client stakeholders on goals, timelines, and progress updates.
- 5Read and interpret blueprints, construction documents, and scopes of work to guide field execution.
- 6Perform client takeoffs, verifying material quantities and scope before and during builds.
- 7Plan and order materials, equipment, and resources to hit schedule and budget targets.
- 8Track progress in Microsoft Office and project tools, documenting activities and reporting to stakeholders.
- 9Resolve field issues in real time, applying practical solutions to keep projects on track.
- 10Support overnight work and travel as needed to meet client deadlines and project milestones.
Requirements10
- 15+ years in retail construction, with 3+ years supervising or managing projects to completion.
- 2Strong knowledge of commercial and retail construction methods, standards, and best practices.
- 3Proven track record managing subcontractors and field crews.
- 4Ability to read and interpret blueprints and construction documents accurately.
- 5Proficiency with Microsoft Office and project coordination tools.
- 6Excellent written and verbal communication, with confident client presentation skills.
- 7Strong organizational and leadership abilities, with self-motivation and prioritization skills.
- 8Willingness to travel extensively (up to 75% monthly) and support overnight work.
- 9Experience with OSHA standards and an OSHA 30-hour certification or equivalent.
- 10Proficiency with construction management platforms such as Procore.
