Construction Superintendent, Restaurant & Retail Builds
Overview
Own restaurant and retail construction projects from pre-construction through closeout for a premier general contractor in southern Florida. You will lead on-site schedule, quality, safety, and subcontractor performance for high-end builds. Report directly to project managers and coordinate with clients, design teams, and permitting authorities. This role demands hands-on problem solving and clear communication to deliver multiple store openings on time and on budget. You will travel across regions to oversee fast-track, multi-site rollouts.
What You'll Do10
- 1Lead day-to-day construction activities on restaurant and retail sites, ensuring safety, schedule, and quality standards.
- 2Coordinate subcontractors, trades, and vendor deliveries, resolving performance issues immediately.
- 3Enforce site safety programs and OSHA requirements, conducting regular safety meetings and inspections.
- 4Maintain project schedules and daily reports, communicating progress updates to project managers and stakeholders.
- 5Perform quality control inspections at key milestones, verifying conformance to plans, specs, and local codes.
- 6Manage material logistics and deliveries to prevent schedule delays, securing on-site materials and equipment.
- 7Support bid preparation and pre-construction with site assessments, labor estimates, and constructability input.
- 8Facilitate coordination between field crews, design teams, and permitting authorities to resolve issues and approvals.
- 9Track field costs, document change orders, and assist with cost mitigation strategies.
- 10Execute project closeout including punch lists, final inspections, turnover documentation, and lessons learned.
Requirements10
- 15+ years of superintendent or foreman experience on restaurant or retail construction projects.
- 2Strong knowledge of restaurant and retail construction methods, building codes, MEP coordination, and finish carpentry.
- 3Proven experience with scheduling, daily reporting, quality control, and site safety programs (OSHA 30 preferred).
- 4Ability to read and interpret construction drawings, specifications, and contract documents.
- 5Demonstrated skills in supervising subcontractors, conflict resolution, and on-site negotiation.
- 6Experience in fast-track, multi-site rollout environments; big-box retail experience a plus.
- 7Comfort with travel to multiple job sites and regional oversight responsibilities.
- 8Familiarity with bid preparation, cost estimating, and change order documentation preferred.
- 9Effective communication with clients, project teams, and field personnel; strong organizational skills.
- 10Valid driver's license and ability to work flexible hours on-site in active construction environments.
