Assistant Operations Manager, Route & Field Operations
Overview
Field operations leadership to own and optimize routes across a blue-collar service area at scale. Lead technicians, manage vehicles and equipment, and respond to daily field challenges. Collaborate with local teams to ensure on-time service, safety, and quality. This role blends hands-on field work with people leadership and route optimization to drive operational excellence.
What You'll Do10
- 1Build and adjust daily technician routes to maximize coverage and efficiency
- 2Lead call-outs weather issues breakdowns and schedule changes to minimize downtime
- 3Communicate directly with technicians throughout the day and perform ride-alongs and field audits
- 4Step into the field to cover routes when coverage is needed and coordinate basic vehicle scheduling
- 5Monitor equipment condition and report issues to maintain service readiness
- 6Respond to customer issues and resolve problems quickly to uphold service standards
- 7Track daily metrics such as stops completed hours and mileage to drive improvements
- 8Assist with onboarding and hands-on training of new technicians
- 9Coordinate with field teams to ensure compliance and safety on all routes
- 10Collaborate with local leadership to optimize operations and resource allocation
Requirements10
- 1Prior experience in field services routes trades logistics or blue-collar operations
- 2Supervised or led people who work outdoors
- 3Experience with vehicles equipment or route-based work
- 4Willingness to work outdoors and on walk properties
- 5Strong problem-solving mindset with hands-on approach
- 6Former technicians field supervisors dispatchers or foremen encouraged to apply
- 7Basic computer skills including routing software spreadsheets and email
- 8Valid driver’s license and ability to drive company vehicles
- 9No degree required hands-on experience matters more
- 10Excellent communications and customer service skills
