Assistant Afterschool Site Coordinator, EDGE Youth Programs
Overview
Own day-to-day program delivery and staff leadership for the EDGE Afterschool Program at John Boner Neighborhood Centers. Lead larger group activities, manage parent communication, and handle elevated youth situations using restorative practices. Partner with the Site Coordinator to implement curriculum, cover site operations, and spend 50-80% of time directly facilitating with youth. This part-time role builds leadership skills through 12+ hours of state-sponsored training and CPR/CCDF certifications, making it a launchpad for youth development leadership.
What You'll Do8
- 1Supervise program staff and direct daily activities, logistics, and transitions across EDGE afterschool sessions.
- 2Lead large-group activities, ensuring smooth transitions and maintaining engagement for all youth participants.
- 3Resolve elevated youth situations with restorative practices, guiding positive behavior and outcomes.
- 4Serve as the primary parent contact, managing questions, updates, and support with professionalism.
- 5Step in for the Site Coordinator to oversee site operations, facilitate programs, and maintain structure when needed.
- 6Collaborate with the Site Coordinator to implement curriculum and activity plans aligned with EDGE goals.
- 7Facilitate direct program activities for 50-80% of the time, creating a safe and fun environment for students.
- 8Complete onboarding, including 12+ hours of state-sponsored youth service education and CPR/CCDF certifications.
Requirements7
- 11+ years supervising staff or leading in afterschool or youth program settings.
- 2CPR certification and CCDF training completed as part of onboarding (provided by JBNC).
- 3Flexibility to work afternoon and early evening hours during out-of-school program times.
- 4Experience managing larger groups of youth in team-oriented environments.
- 5Proven leadership and direction skills for staff and program activities.
- 6Effective parent communication and relationship-building abilities.
