Aquatics Supervisor
Overview
You will own the daily operation of municipal aquatic facilities, managing a team of lifeguards and instructors while serving 50,000+ residents across multiple pools. Reporting to the Recreation Superintendent, you align programs with community needs and city policies, from swim lessons to special events. This role stands out for its hands-on emergency response and water quality management, requiring CPR, First Aid, and Certified Pool Operator credentials.
What You'll Do9
- 1Direct development and implementation of aquatics goals, policies, and priorities, covering staff, equipment, and facilities.
- 2Hire, train, schedule, and evaluate lifeguards and instructors, ensuring certification compliance and readiness.
- 3Coordinate or conduct CPR and First Aid courses and drill staff in aquatic emergency operations through regular patrols.
- 4Prepare and manage the aquatics budget, submitting recommendations and monitoring expenditures.
- 5Verify time worked and submit payroll, plus assist in monthly financial and participation reports.
- 6Enforce pool safety rules, develop and implement Emergency Action Plans, and resolve customer complaints.
- 7Plan and execute special events and recreational programs, and promote facilities to swim teams and rental groups.
- 8Oversee mechanical operations and water quality, maintaining chemical balance per federal, state, and local codes.
- 9Market and coordinate all aquatics programming and events, and document safety activities.
Requirements8
- 15+ years developing and implementing aquatic programs, including 2 years in a supervisory capacity.
- 2Bachelor's degree in Recreation, Leisure Studies, or related field, or equivalent experience.
- 3Community CPR, First Aid, and AED certifications.
- 4Certified Pool Operator certification.
- 5American Red Cross Water Safety Instructor Certification.
- 6Valid Class C Texas driver's license or alternate transportation.
- 7Knowledge of aquatic program rules, pool operation, water chemistry, and recreational risk management.
- 8Skills in emergency response, training, supervision, and customer service.
