Wind Tunnel Technician, Vehicle Testing & Instrumentation
Overview
You will own vehicle preparation, instrumentation, and data collection for aerodynamic, powertrain cooling, and fuel efficiency tests in the Wind Tunnel complex. You will work with engineers to run tests, collect data, and remove instrumentation after testing. The role supports facility readiness, develops test strategies, and leads diagnostics for test system issues. This is a contract role based in Allen Park, MI, offering the chance to work on cutting-edge vehicle development.
What You'll Do8
- 1Prep vehicles with instrumentation, including sensors, before testing.
- 2Run Aerodynamic, powertrain cooling, and Fuel Efficiency tests with engineers to collect data.
- 3Remove vehicles and instrumentation after testing.
- 4Support maintenance, calibration, and quality systems to ensure Wind Tunnel facility readiness.
- 5Interface with customers to understand test objectives, develop test strategies, and collect data.
- 6Support efficiency improvements including test automation and lights-out testing.
- 7Lead diagnostics for test system issues, instrumentation, and facility infrastructure.
- 8Develop and enforce safe plans for all test and facility activities.
Requirements7
- 12+ years of experience in vehicle testing or wind tunnel operations.
- 2Hands-on experience with instrumentation and data acquisition systems.
- 3Knowledge of Aerodynamic, powertrain cooling, and Fuel Efficiency testing methods.
- 4Ability to work with engineers to execute test plans.
- 5Experience with test automation and troubleshooting.
- 6Strong understanding of safety protocols in test environments.
- 7Ability to interface with customers and analyze data.
