Overview

You will own the migration of TECH websites from legacy Plesk hosting to Sites@GT, ensuring smooth, accessible transitions that meet institutional standards. Working within the OIT Web Modernization team, you will collaborate with web customers, the OIT Web Hosting team, and the CampusPress vendor. Your work directly impacts the digital experience of the TECH community, replacing outdated platforms with modern, accessible web services.

What You'll Do9

  • 1Design and manage an intake process (online form and tracking system) that captures and monitors all migration requests from Plesk to Sites@GT.
  • 2Collaborate with TECH web customers to assess readiness, prioritize migration requests, and execute site transitions on schedule.
  • 3Map site functionality requirements (forms, workflows, search, events, integrations) to Sites@GT plugins and native features, suggesting alternatives for unsupported custom code.
  • 4Coordinate with the CampusPress vendor and OIT Web Hosting team on migration activities, troubleshooting, and resolution of issues.
  • 5Apply WCAG accessibility standards during each migration, flagging and fixing issues to ensure full compliance.
  • 6Implement SEO preservation tactics, including redirects, and validate content integrity throughout the move.
  • 7Set up and validate custom domains and subdomains, coordinating DNS updates with the hosting team.
  • 8Document migration processes, customer communications, and site status to maintain transparency and knowledge sharing.
  • 9Use Git for version control of migration scripts and configuration files, supporting deployment workflows.

Requirements8

  • 13-5 years managing and migrating WordPress sites, including best practices for SEO (redirects), content integrity, and accessibility.
  • 2Proven ability to assess functional requirements and recommend suitable Sites@GT plugins or native alternatives.
  • 3Strong customer engagement skills: clarifying needs, proposing solutions, and explaining technical concepts to non-technical audiences.
  • 4Working knowledge of WCAG guidelines and accessible web design standards.
  • 5Understanding of DNS fundamentals and domain configuration for custom domains and subdomains.
  • 6Ability to prioritize migrations based on site visibility, technical complexity, and institutional impact.
  • 7Familiarity with Git or similar version control systems for managing web code and deployment.
  • 8Local to Atlanta: must work on-site 2-3 days per week. Schedule is flexible but not remote-only.
