Web Architect/DevOps Architect, Cloud & Middleware
Overview
You will own the development architecture and middleware strategy for a global consulting client's digital platforms. You will design resilient application frameworks, moving beyond routine cloud administration to influence the core technical direction. Working with a team of platform engineers and developers, you will set standards for deployment and reliability. This contract role, based onsite in San Jose, offers a chance to drive high-impact architectural decisions.
What You'll Do9
- 1Design application frameworks for web platforms, ensuring scalability and resilience with AWS and Kubernetes.
- 2Architect and implement CI/CD pipelines using Jenkins and GitLab to accelerate delivery.
- 3Lead the middleware strategy, integrating Apache Kafka and Redis for high-throughput messaging and caching.
- 4Drive the adoption of Terraform for infrastructure as code, enabling repeatable and auditable environments.
- 5Collaborate with development teams to optimize Docker containerization and orchestration.
- 6Evaluate and select cloud services, focusing on AWS Elastic Load Balancing, RDS, and S3 for performance and cost.
- 7Establish monitoring and alerting standards with Prometheus and Grafana for system health.
- 8Provide technical guidance on security best practices in cloud and application layers.
- 9Facilitate architecture reviews and produce technical documentation for stakeholders.
Requirements9
- 15+ years architecting web applications in AWS with a focus on high availability.
- 23+ years hands-on experience with Kubernetes and Docker in production environments.
- 3Proven ability to design middleware solutions using Apache Kafka and Redis.
- 4Strong expertise in Terraform for infrastructure provisioning.
- 5Experience with Jenkins and GitLab for CI/CD automation.
- 6Deep knowledge of AWS services including EC2, RDS, S3, and Lambda.
- 7Familiarity with monitoring tools like Prometheus and Grafana.
- 8Experience leading technical teams and driving architectural decisions.
