Web Application / DevOps Architect, San Jose, CA
Overview
You will own the architecture for scalable web applications, distributed messaging systems, API platforms, and containerized environments. You join a digital platform team at Intellisoft Technologies, working onsite in San Jose on a contract basis. This role centers on middleware strategy and DevOps enablement, with hands-on design and implementation from day one.
What You'll Do9
- 1Design the web application architecture to support 10 million+ monthly requests, using Spring Boot and Node.js.
- 2Build the distributed messaging layer with Kafka and RabbitMQ, handling 50,000+ events per second.
- 3Define the API platform strategy with RESTful and GraphQL endpoints, ensuring low-latency integration.
- 4Implement the data-routing layer using Akka and Apache Camel for reliable message transformation.
- 5Architect and deploy containerized environments on Kubernetes with Docker, including service mesh with Istio.
- 6Drive the CI/CD pipeline transformation using Jenkins, GitLab CI, and Terraform for infrastructure as code.
- 7Own the cloud infrastructure setup on AWS (EC2, S3, Lambda) and Azure, including auto-scaling and cost optimization.
- 8Lead the migration of legacy monoliths to microservices, reducing deployment time by 70%.
- 9Mentor developers on DevOps practices and architecture standards, ensuring code quality and operational excellence.
Requirements10
- 18+ years in software development with a focus on web application architecture and distributed systems.
- 25+ years hands-on with Java and Spring Boot in production environments.
- 33+ years designing and operating containerized applications on Kubernetes and Docker.
- 43+ years experience with AWS and Azure cloud platforms, including IAM, VPC, and load balancing.
- 52+ years working with Kafka or RabbitMQ for event streaming and messaging.
- 62+ years with Terraform and Ansible for infrastructure provisioning and configuration management.
- 71+ years implementing CI/CD pipelines with Jenkins or GitLab CI.
- 8Strong knowledge of Nginx and HAProxy for reverse proxy and load balancing.
- 9Bachelor's degree in Computer Science or related field, or equivalent experience.
- 10Experience with GraphQL and API Gateway solutions like Kong or Apigee.
