Overview
We seek a Warehouse Supervisor to lead distribution operations at our Harvey Illinois facility. This role reports to the Distribution Manager and oversees a team of 15-25 union members. The ideal candidate has 3+ years of supervisory experience in high-volume distribution centers focusing on receiving picking and shipping. You will manage financial objectives enhance safety programs and drive operational improvements while fostering accountability teamwork integrity respect and excellence.
What You'll Do11
- 1Manage distribution functions for the Harvey location including safety programs shipping receiving and inventory management
- 2Lead a department of 15-25 employees and coordinate shift activities across all warehouse operations
- 3Plan carrier loading schedules using flatbed dry van containers LTL and small parcel services
- 4Achieve financial targets by controlling expenses and optimizing resource utilization
- 5Develop and enforce safety protocols ensuring all programs remain current and compliant
- 6Drive cost reductions through standard work improvements and service factor optimization
- 7Implement Lean initiatives to boost the Service Factor rate and overall operational efficiency
- 8Collaborate with Customer Service Manufacturing and Transportation teams to maintain seamless operations
- 9Complete Atkore Immersion Program within three months to understand business systems
- 10Take functional ownership of a 5S project within the warehouse
- 11Gain deep understanding of transportation routing and order appointment processes
Requirements9
- 1High school diploma required Bachelor’s degree preferred
- 2Minimum 3 years’ experience as a warehouse supervisor in high-volume distribution
- 3Proven ability to manage KPI compliance and WMS scanning systems
- 4JD Edwards experience preferred with strong WMS implementation background
- 5Track record of improving safety metrics and operational efficiency
- 6Excellent computer skills including Microsoft Office
- 7Participation in cross-functional Kaizen and Lean events
- 8Strong communication abilities and leadership potential especially in union environments
