VP Critical Operations, Data Center Infrastructure
Overview
You own the mission-critical operations of a hyperscale data center campus in Dallas or Chicago, with 10+ years of data center experience and 5-10 years of leadership. You lead a team of technical staff to ensure 100% availability while driving P&L and client outcomes. This role blends deep operational expertise with executive business leadership, reporting to the Sr. VP of Operations. You will shape the campus strategy, govern contracts and SLAs, and champion safety across all systems.
What You'll Do9
- 1Lead a safety-first culture across the campus, enforcing NFPA70e, NFPA72, NFPA25, and NFPA101 compliance.
- 2Ensure uninterrupted operation of critical infrastructure, directing preventive and corrective maintenance for UPS, Generators, Chillers, and Air Handlers.
- 3Own full P&L responsibility for the campus, managing multi-million-dollar budgets to minimize total cost of ownership.
- 4Drive operational efficiency initiatives, leveraging trending and analysis to optimize system performance.
- 5Act as executive client sponsor, governing contracts and SLAs in line with ASHRAE standards.
- 6Lead executive client meetings and build strong vendor relationships to coordinate contractor services.
- 7Develop and mentor the technical operations team, building long-term plans for growth and succession.
- 8Participate in design, construction, and commissioning of critical systems to ensure operability.
- 9Manage operating and capital budgets, aligning with business objectives and growth plans.
Requirements9
- 110+ years of data center facility operations and maintenance experience.
- 25-10 years of leadership experience in data center operations.
- 3Expert knowledge of NFPA70e, NFPA72, NFPA25, NFPA101, and other fire/life safety codes.
- 4Deep understanding of electrical and mechanical systems: UPS, Generators, Transformers, PDUs, RPPs, Chillers, CDUs, Air Handlers, STS, ATS, and pre-action systems.
- 5Proven experience managing multi-million-dollar budgets with a focus on 100% availability.
- 6Experience with customer contracts and SLAs aligned with ASHRAE standards.
- 7Strong presentation skills for leading executive meetings and client reviews.
- 8Ability to handle stressful situations and manage competing priorities with exceptional organizational skills.
- 9Hyperscale data center operations experience and supervision of technical staff.
Salary Insight
$280 - $311k per year
