Vocational Training Instructor Custodial Services
Overview
You will own the custodial services training program at a federal correctional facility in Brooklyn, NY. You will deliver classroom instruction, develop curriculum, and track student progress. You will coordinate apprenticeship programs and ensure compliance with Bureau of Prisons policies and Department of Labor regulations. This role requires a current ISSA or CMI certification and direct experience in commercial cleaning operations. You will also support institutional security as a correctional officer.
What You'll Do7
- 1Deliver classroom training for vocational and apprenticeship courses in Custodial Services to incarcerated students.
- 2Select and develop curriculum aligned with industry standards and Bureau of Prisons guidelines.
- 3Design a record-keeping system to monitor student progress and completion of coursework.
- 4Coordinate the apprenticeship program, including scheduling classes and evaluating outcomes.
- 5Ensure all training programs comply with Department of Labor and Bureau of Apprenticeship and Training regulations.
- 6Maintain security of the institution through regular correctional duties.
- 7Implement competency-based training with hands-on skill development in cleaning operations.
Requirements7
- 12+ years verifiable experience in custodial services, environmental services, or commercial cleaning within the past 4 years.
- 2Current ISSA certification, CMI certification, CCT, CCS, or GBAC Fundamentals credential.
- 31 year experience developing and delivering instructional activities for custodial services students.
- 4Master's degree or equivalent, or 2 years of graduate education in education or a related field.
- 5U.S. citizenship and ability to pass a background check and drug test.
- 6Completion of the three-week Introduction to Correctional Techniques training at Glynco, GA.
- 7Maximum entry age of 36 for original appointment unless veteran preference applies.
