Overview
You will own campus cleanliness for a Washington, DC school, covering restrooms, floors, and high-touch surfaces across classrooms, hallways, cafeterias, and offices. You will operate buffers and auto-scrubbers from day one, with no training provided. You will join a facilities team of experienced custodians and report directly to the supervisor. This role demands 5+ years of commercial janitorial experience and a proven track record with floor care. You will clear federal and Child Protection Registry background checks before starting, ensuring a safe environment for students.
What You'll Do10
- 1Clean and disinfect all restrooms and restock supplies daily.
- 2Sweep, mop, and maintain floors in classrooms, hallways, cafeteria, offices, gym, and common areas.
- 3Wipe down and disinfect desks, tables, counters, and shared surfaces.
- 4Clean glass doors and windows campus-wide.
- 5Disinfect high-touch points including handles, push bars, handrails, and switches.
- 6Empty and reline all trash and recycling receptacles.
- 7Sanitize cafeteria tables and floors after each meal service.
- 8Police outdoor grounds and empty outdoor receptacles.
- 9Strip, wax, and buff hard-surface floors per scheduled rotation.
- 10Report maintenance issues, hazards, and vandalism to the supervisor.
Requirements7
- 15+ years commercial janitorial or custodial experience.
- 2Floor care expertise: stripping, waxing, and buffing hard-surface floors.
- 3Operate buffers and auto-scrubbers on day one with no training.
- 4Reliable transportation with valid proof of insurance and current vehicle registration for campus access.
- 5Ability to lift 50 lbs and perform physical tasks throughout the shift.
- 6Safe handling of commercial cleaning chemicals per MSDS guidelines.
- 7Pass mandatory federal background check and Child Protection Registry background check.
