Veterinary Assistant Day Shift Falls Road Animal Hospital
Overview
Join our team as a Veterinary Assistant who supports veterinarians and technicians. This role involves cleaning equipment feeding exercising grooming patients preparing surgery suites restraining handling patients and clerical work. They deliver quality care and provide exceptional service.
What You'll Do11
- 1Provide compassionate care to all patients
- 2Greet patients and their owners as they arrive and show them to an examining room taking weight and vital signs
- 3Triage patients perform physical exams treat and administer medication as directed by LVTs
- 4Calm and soothe anxious patients assist doctors and technicians with medication or patient restraint
- 5Perform laboratory tests and take radiographs
- 6Operate and maintain hospital equipment including EKG fluid pump syringe pump scales anesthetic monitors and machines
- 7Fill prescriptions calculate and administer medications maintain proper documentation log and security of controlled drugs
- 8Feed patients as prescribed record appetites and report unusual conditions
- 9Communicate positively with clients ensure comfort leave pet owners educate clients about insurance wellness and medicinal plans
- 10Maintain cleanliness of hospital clean equipment kennels and facilities use chemicals safely complete laundry bath and care for overnight patients adhere to safety regulations
- 11Understand and carry out oral and written directions maintain accurate medical records show up for work regularly full-time presence required promote hospital products and services support organization respond respectfully with urgency to directions from DVM or LVTs
Requirements5
- 15+ years experience working in veterinary hospitals
- 2Anesthesia monitoring experience preferred
- 3Must be 18 years of age or older
- 4Schedule five 10-hour shifts or four 10-hour shifts variable days weekends and holidays
- 5Experience with EKG fluid pump syringe pump scales anesthetic monitors and machines
