Vascular Access Specialist - Nights, Phoenix AZ
Overview
You will own vascular access for a Level III NICU and CV unit at HonorHealth Sonoran Crossing, inserting and maintaining A-lines, PICCs, midlines, and CVCs on a night shift (6pm-6:30am). You will work with a team of Respiratory Therapists and RNs, supporting emergent procedures and quality improvement. This role offers a $7,500 sign-on bonus and a chance to shape best-practice guidelines in a community-focused system.
What You'll Do8
- 1Insert and maintain arterial lines, midlines, PICCs, and CVCs using ultrasound and ECG tip placement, ensuring sterile field and IHI bundle compliance.
- 2Review chest X-rays and labs to confirm line placement and patient candidacy, then collaborate with physicians on long-term access plans.
- 3Perform intubations, bag-mask ventilation, and attend resuscitations and traumas as assigned.
- 4Deliver CV respiratory therapy including pulmonary function testing, oximetry, and IAPB insertion support.
- 5Maintain I-STAT and blood gas equipment, troubleshoot devices, and coordinate repairs or preventive maintenance.
- 6Act as a clinical resource, training staff and educating patients and families on vascular access care.
- 7Document all procedures in the electronic medical record, including patient assessments and line maintenance.
- 8Participate in quality improvement and policy development to elevate vascular access standards.
Requirements7
- 12+ years of Respiratory Care experience required; 5+ years with arterial line, IV, PICC, or central line insertion preferred.
- 2Graduate of a CoARC-approved Respiratory Care program; bachelor's in health-related field preferred.
- 3Hold Respiratory Care Practitioner (RCP) license in Arizona and Registered Respiratory Therapist (RRT) credential upon hire.
- 4Current ACLS and BLS certifications required upon hire.
- 5NBRC Specialist or Vascular Access Specialist credential preferred.
- 6Experience in NICU or nursery setting strongly preferred.
- 7Proficiency in electronic medical record documentation and ultrasound-guided line insertion.
