Unix/Linux Administrator, Security Remediation
Overview
You will own security remediation for Unix/Linux systems under Project Aegis, hardening RHEL and Solaris environments to eliminate vulnerabilities. You work with a security team and application groups to close compliance gaps and reduce risk. This contract role in Boston offers direct impact on critical infrastructure.
What You'll Do7
- 1Remediate security vulnerabilities identified under Project Aegis, applying patches and configuration changes across Unix/Linux servers.
- 2Perform operating system upgrades and hardening of RHEL, Solaris, and AIX environments to meet security benchmarks.
- 3Analyze compliance findings and resolve issues related to CIS controls and STIG standards.
- 4Develop and maintain bash and Perl scripts to automate remediation and system checks.
- 5Support application teams during patching cycles, testing, and production rollouts.
- 6Decommission legacy infrastructure, ensuring data migration and service retirement follow security protocols.
- 7Document remediation procedures and update runbooks for recurring tasks.
Requirements7
- 15+ years administering Unix/Linux systems in enterprise environments.
- 2Hands-on expertise with RHEL and Solaris patching and hardening.
- 3Experience with CIS benchmarks and STIG implementation.
- 4Strong scripting skills in bash or Perl.
- 5Understanding of TCP/IP, DNS, and LDAP.
- 6Familiarity with Ansible or Puppet for configuration management.
- 7Prior work on security remediation or compliance projects.
