Overview
Technician 1 installs and maintains low voltage cabling infrastructure within a data center environment. Responsibilities include installation decommissioning network cabling reading blueprints and providing structured feedback. Requires knowledge of telecom hand tools customer service safety standards and ability to read floor plans.
What You'll Do11
- 1Install and decommission network cabling infrastructure following safety protocols
- 2Read and comprehend blueprints and building documentation
- 3Perform field terminations and labeling using various cable types
- 4Install ladder racking and seismic bracing both above and under raised floors
- 5Dress fiber trunks and perform fusion splicing
- 6Operate DSX 5000 tester OTDR tester and program testers
- 7Download test results to Linkware save and verify submit to customers
- 8Create mass labels and apply per portmap
- 9Differentiate live cables from decom cable
- 10Conduct service swaps of live networking devices
- 11Understand FIM database and operate scanners
Requirements11
- 1Knowledge and use of basic telecom hand tools
- 2Clear understanding of customer service job safety requirements
- 3Familiarity with wiring schemes and wiring testing
- 4Ability to pull all types of low voltage cable
- 5Understanding of field termination and labeling techniques
- 6Experience installing ladder racking and seismic bracing
- 7Basic understanding of copper and fiber cable testing and troubleshooting
- 8Ability to read and understand blueprints and design documents
- 9Skills to layout MDF and IDF closets dress all cable types and perform terminations
- 10Capability of installing fiber trunks and splicing fiber
- 11Knowledge of FIM database operations
