Infra Delivery Technician, Data Center Cabling & Deployment
Overview
You will own physical infrastructure installation at scale, deploying and maintaining fiber and copper cabling systems across AWS data centers. You will work hands-on with enterprise servers, network switches, and cabling infrastructure, collaborating with a cross-functional team of engineers and technicians. Troubleshoot complex cabling scenarios, enforce safety and security standards, and contribute to the reliability of the global cloud. This role offers visibility into AWS's largest infrastructure projects and requires travel flexibility.
What You'll Do10
- 1Install and implement large enterprise equipment, including servers, network racks, and cabling systems in data centers.
- 2Run and terminate fiber optic and copper cabling, and patch cables between switches, patch panels, and endpoints.
- 3Follow and maintain safety and security protocols during rack installation, cabling, and break-fix activities.
- 4Use material handling tools and lifts to safely move and position heavy equipment and cable bundles.
- 5Troubleshoot and resolve cabling and hardware issues during deployment or maintenance windows.
- 6Travel between regional data center sites, up to 50+ miles, using a personal vehicle as needed.
- 7Support 24/7 operations by participating in primary responder rotation and providing after-hours support.
- 8Document and track cabling and installation activities using internal ticketing systems.
- 9Coordinate with remote teams to ensure timely completion of infrastructure projects.
- 10Participate in physical tasks, including bending, lifting, kneeling, and working in cramped or elevated environments for up to 8+ hours.
Requirements9
- 11+ years of experience in computer hardware repair, infrastructure cabling, network deployment, or data center operations.
- 2High school diploma or equivalent.
- 3Ability to lift up to 40 pounds regularly and participate in group lifts for 41+ pounds.
- 4Willingness to work in environments that operate 24/7 and support after-hours on-call rotations.
- 5Valid driver's license and reliable personal vehicle for regional travel.
- 6Ability to ascend and descend ladders, stairs, and gangways safely without limitation.
- 7Familiarity with cabling best practices and network cabling types, including fiber optic and copper.
- 8Industry certifications such as CompTIA, CCENT, or Network+.
- 9Knowledge of test equipment (OTDR, Fluke, etc.) and optic types.
