Overview
You will own the customer tax experience at a TurboTax retail location, preparing federal and state 1040 returns with PTIN and EA, CPA, or attorney credentials. You will be the face of TurboTax in the community, converting walk-ins into loyal clients through proactive outreach and personalized tax advice. Your work spans simple to complex tax situations, including deductions, amendments, and tax planning, delivering a best-in-class service that sets Intuit apart.
What You'll Do7
- 1Prepare full-service federal and state individual 1040 returns for walk-in and scheduled clients using TurboTax software, managing seasonal volume of 30+ returns.
- 2Perform discovery sessions to identify deductible items, optimize schedules, and minimize tax liability, providing year-round tax planning guidance.
- 3Represent TurboTax at local events and through social channels, generating leads and building long-term client relationships that drive repeat business.
- 4Explain tax concepts in plain language, tailoring communication to each client's level of understanding and personal financial goals.
- 5Resolve customer issues and tax notices, collaborating with internal teams and leveraging Circular 230 guidelines to ensure compliance.
- 6Maintain active EA, CPA, or attorney license and PTIN, renewing certifications as required and staying current on tax law changes.
- 7Track client interactions and follow-ups in the CRM, ensuring no lead goes cold and every client leaves confident about their taxes.
Requirements9
- 1EA, CPA, or attorney license with active PTIN, plus 3+ years of paid tax preparation experience.
- 2Proven record of filing 30+ individual 1040 tax returns per season using professional tax software.
- 3Willing to obtain state licenses, certificates, or bonds as required.
- 4Comfortable working onsite up to 20 hours weekly, with flexibility for peak season shifts.
- 5Bilingual (English/Spanish) communication skills preferred.
- 6Experience with holistic tax advisory beyond basic filing, such as business income or amendments.
- 7Skilled in building a local presence through social media and community events.
- 8Able to wear TurboTax uniform and work in a front-facing retail environment.
- 9Strong technology aptitude with CRM and tax preparation tools.
